Applications open for Regional Arts Development Fund grants

Applications are now open for grants under the Fraser Coast Regional Arts Development Fund.

“The RADF is a partnership between the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and Fraser Coast Regional Council,” Cr Phil Truscott said.

“The fund promotes the role and value of arts, culture and heritage as key drivers of a diverse and inclusive community and strong regions.

“Previous grants have covered workshops for high school students by Academy Award winning cinematographer Greg Huglin, a lost wax bronze casting workshop and workshops by international recorder virtuoso and teacher António Carrilho.”

Former grant recipient, sculptor Kym Latter, received a grant to create her Isolation Beetle Project.

“The funding allowed me to engage with the community to encourage positivity, creativity, recycling and collaboration among people living in the unique shared experience of being in lock-down.”

Applications are being accepted across six categories for individuals, groups, and organisations.

  • Creative innovation (up to $5,000) to provide support to any arts and cultural project that aligns with the aims of the RADF.
  • Creative skills – (up to $3,000) to enable community groups to engage a professional artist or arts worker to developing skills through workshops or community projects.     
  • Creative impact – (up to $15,000) to support individuals, organisations, and communities deliver high quality, diverse projects that support the region’s economic, social and cultural growth.
  • Creative places – (up to $2,000) to support individuals, organisations and community requiring access to venues for arts and cultural projects that encourage collaboration, entrepreneurship, vibrant place-making and inclusive communities. Creative Places encourages boutique and vintage pop-ups; window installations; and interactive workshops to the region with a view to fill public, commercial and retail venues. 
  • Creative future – (up to $3,000) supports young creatives to develop leadership skills and is specifically tailored to address community issues and drive change.
  • Creative stories – (up to $3,000) encourages support and investment in the development and presentation of Fraser Coast stories that reflect the diversity of the region.

Priority will be given to applications that:

  • Support locally produced arts and cultural activities;
  • Provide opportunities for local communities to participate;
  • Invest in professional, career and capacity development opportunities for local artists and arts practitioners to fuel creative innovation, creative skills, creative impact, creative places, a creative economy and creative futures;
  • Foster resilience and adaptive use of digital solutions to enable ongoing delivery of arts and cultural programs, entertainment and learning resources, and;
  • Encourage safe, innovative initiatives to support mental wellness.

Applications for this round close Monday, 8 November 2021. Applications for future rounds can be lodged at any time with the last round closing on August 1, 2022.
