What we are looking for:

Innovative and creative individual to join the dynamic and professional team at Hervey Bay Regional Gallery to develop and realise the exhibition program. The Exhibitions & Collections Coordinator will deliver high quality exhibitions, provide support for education and programming initiatives and maintain, administrate and develop the Fraser Coast Regional Council art collections.

What your day will look like:

This role involves overseeing a range of exhibition and collection-based activities aimed at enhancing the Fraser Coast's cultural landscape. Key responsibilities include supporting the Hervey Bay Regional Gallery Director and Cultural Services team with specialist advice, exhibition administration, and collections management. You'll ensure high standards in terms of exhibition logistics, artist/stakeholder relationships and industry best practice.

Some of your tasks will include:

  • Coordinating the collection management databases and process including delivery and return of exhibitions, handling all related documentation such as checklists, condition reports, and exhibition reports.
  • Managing communication between involved parties to ensure smooth operations.
  • Overseeing exhibition installation and removal, ensuring proper use of materials and equipment.
  • Regularly collaborating with the Gallery Director and public programs team on exhibition content, image reproduction permissions, marketing, events, and programming.

What you’ll need for success:

  • Tertiary qualifications (AQF level 5 or above) in fine Arts, Art history, Visual Arts, Arts Administration, Museum Studies or similar discipline; and /or experience in public art and collection management preferably in a local government environment.
  • Current Class C drivers
  • Hold or have the ability to obtain a White Card
  • Demonstrated experience working in a curatorial, collections, exhibitions management or other relevant gallery role
  • Strong skills in project management, exhibition planning and gallery logistics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated experience working with diverse stakeholders
  • Proven ability to work independently, solve problems and execute complete projects within budget constraints
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate within a team, work with artists and coordinate external contractors
  • Experience with artwork handling, maintenance and collection- related record keeping

What’s nice to have:

  • Experience with collection management software
  • Working with Children Blue card
