Student Artist Profile: Aiden Hagan
St Mary’s College Year 12 student Aiden Hagan will be exhibiting multiple works in this year’s Twenty18 exhibition. His work Astronaut (Scene cover image) was an experiment that became a theme and style that he has continued to explore.
"The work explores opportunities we have been given that we will never get back. The helmet is safety and outside is the unknown. You can either take a risk or stay trapped."
Aiden is currently drawing with ballpoint pen and has recently created a painting series focusing on our perceptions of mental health. Alongside Visual Art, Aiden studies Music, Drama and recently featured as Uncle Fester in the College production of The Addams Family.
Next year Aiden hopes to study art, education and join a theatre company.
St Mary’s College ‘Twenty18’ is the 3rd annual exhibition of student art, music, film and design. The exhibition features work from all year levels. Students are encouraged to display work completed at school as well as work created out of class time.
Exhibition co-ordinator Tim Chamberlain said that the number of students entering the exhibition and the quality of the work has grown significantly since the first exhibition held in 2016.
He said that the exhibition grew out of a desire to exhibit a wide range of creative styles in one place and has become a key event on the College calendar.
