A Conversation on Abstract Art

Join Petalia Humphreys for a reading group and collective conversation. 

Connecting art, language and ideologies this session is an opportunity to dive deeper into the themes explored in Nat Lavelle's In the Making. In advance of the session participants are invited to read 'Beginning Again' by Marcia Hafif, and other key influential texts that have informed Natalie Lavelle's practice.  

Artist Petalia Humphreys was raised in Hervey Bay and currently lives and works on Gubbi Gubbi land on the Sunshine Coast. Celebrating the legacy of material Petalia continues an ancestry of art making and woodworking, constructing playful three-dimensional paintings that map familiar, and familial, domestic spaces. 

Petalia is founder, producer and curator for Studio 26, a project that curates regional opportunities for artists, including mentoring, critical conversation and exhibitions.
