Regional talent showcased in Brolga Theatre program
Fraser Coast residents will be able to see high-class regional performers for an affordable price as part of the Morning Melodies program at the Brolga Theatre in Maryborough in 2024.
Cr Phil Truscott said the Morning Melodies program previously only included performers from outside the region, with Council making a strategic shift to feature performers from within our region in 2024.
“We have some fantastic local talent and by making this change to our Morning Melodies program, Council will be providing regional performers an opportunity to grow their audience and profile,” he said.
“Morning Melodies is a daytime performance program aimed at our senior citizens, and it proves particularly popular with retirees and provides a day out for nursing home residents.
“Shows start at 11am and typically run for an hour to an hour and a half. Morning tea is also available to purchase from 10am.
“There will be five Morning Melodies shows in 2024 with tickets just $10 each, providing an affordable entertainment option for both individuals or large groups. Pre-sale tickets are available now and could be a great gift for that special someone this Christmas.”
The 2024 Morning Melodies shows include:
- Folk Song Sing Along – Derek Smith, Thursday 22 February
- Women in Music – Emma Newman, Thursday 18 April
- Timeless Classics – Sam Maddison, Thursday 15 August
- Songs From Musicals – Timbre, Thursday 3 October
- Andrews and Bing – Christmas Swing – Thursday 12 December.
Cr Truscott encouraged Fraser Coast residents to sign up for the Brolga’s email newsletters to be the first to know about upcoming shows and to access exclusive offers and pre-sale periods.
“You can register for the enewsletters on the Brolga Theatre’s website – brolgatheatre.org – and you can become a Friend of the Brolga for a low membership fee which entitles you to discounted tickets to most performances,” he said.
Tickets, gift vouchers and Friends of the Brolga memberships can be purchased online on the Brolga’s website, by phoning 4122 6060 or in person at the box office between 8.30am and 4pm Monday to Friday.
