Creative Recovery Discussion at Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery
You are invited to a Creative Recovery Discussion evening with guest speakers Scotia Monkivitch and Ainsley Gatley. This is an opportunity to reflect on the resilience of the Bundaberg Community and the creative projects that support the wellbeing of diverse communities recovering from the impact of disasters, especially in regional areas.
Guest Speakers, Scotia Monkivitch and Ainsley Gatley will join us to pause and pay respect within the Sunken Houses exhibition, remembering our 10-year anniversary here in Bundaberg of the 2013 floods that affected so many.
Scotia is Manager of the Creative Recovery Network, advocating and supporting the role arts and creativity plays within disaster preparedness and response. The Creative Recovery Network aims to gather, critique, develop and share the knowledge gained nationally and internationally for engagement of the arts in disaster recovery and preparedness, along with developing tools and support for artists working in this field.
Ainsley Gatley worked collaboratively on the Afloat project for two years, following the 2010/11 Bundaberg floods, to create an arts and creative recovery program to support people and use art as a healing tool and recovery mechanism. Ainsley is passionate about community arts recovery and has been the director of her own event management business in the Bundaberg region for the past 15 years.
This is a FREE event. Registrations are essential as refreshments will be served.
