Bringing another classic story of “girl meets boy and falls in love” to the Brolga Theatre stage in September is well-known local theatre group, Maryborough Players.
Director Suzanne Bushell said all the family could enjoy Cinderella Enchanted, which is a stage adaption by Tom Briggs from the teleplay by Robert L. Freedman of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, Cinderella.
"The Players’ production will showcase the immense amount of magical talent we have here on the Fraser Coast, not only in acting and backstage skills but also in music, song and dance," Ms Bushnell said.
Ms Bushell said that even after 20 years as director, it was still thrilling to bring a story to life for Fraser Coast audiences.
“With such a wonderful team behind me, how can we go wrong?
“The grace and charm of our own Prince Charming (Alex Kunst) and Cinderella (Rachel Damms) will draw you in, as they waltz and sing together.
“Even though you know the ending, the audience will still be surprised.”
President Gail Endres, who has been with the group since the 1970s, said she loved helping to get theatre out to the community and seeing the young ones progress into great performers.
“There’s been some wonderful local talent come through,” she said.
Maryborough Players planned to do Cinderella Enchanted last year, but the Covid-19 pandemic put a stop to live theatre globally. Now they're back and have about 30 people in the cast and 14 in the crew and support team, and the production will feature a professional digital score.
Cinderella Enchanted will run for two shows only on Friday 9 September and Saturday 10 September at the Brolga Theatre.
